Voice, Fax, and E-mail Messaging, Interaction Mobile Office
Unified messaging
Vonexus EIC gives enterprise users and mobile workers alike a powerful platform to manage
e-mail, voicemail and fax messages—a.k.a. unified messaging. Users can leverage
Vonexus EIC’s Interaction Mail component and a touch-tone phone to access their own “universal”
inbox for all three message types, and can also manage messages from the desktop
via EIC’s integrated Microsoft® Exchange Server and Outlook® for unified
messaging that also includes Web-based access.
An Interaction Mobile Office also extends Vonexus EIC’s messaging capability beyond the office with a speech-enabled telephony user interface (TUI) and “hands-free” mobility features that let workers manage their e-mails, voicemails and faxes from anywhere.
Voicemail, TUI functionality
The Vonexus EIC system’s TUI and mail server enable users who have an e-mail account to
receive and play voicemails on the desktop. In one inherent process, EIC logs the
options a caller selects, puts them into the text of an e-mail, then delivers the
e-mail and attached recorded voice message to the user’s PC, where users can then
play voice messages using EIC’s desktop voicemail form. And just like e-mail, the
Vonexus EIC system identifies voicemail (and fax) transmissions using Caller ID or Automatic
Number Identification (ANI).

Once an e-mailed voicemail message lands in an EIC user’s inbox, the user can open the voice attachment and listen to it via PC speakers, directly from their workstation, or using headphones connected to the PC. Microsoft Exchange also allows users to play EIC’s voicemail form audio—and manage all voicemail, e-mail and fax messages—over the telephone.

Available Follow-Me
To make themselves more readily accessible,Vonexus EIC Interaction Mail users can establish
“Follow Me” telephone numbers in their
Interaction Client® desktop interface, and also using the Vonexus EIC system’s
personal rules options to configure how calls should be handled when they aren’t
available. For example, Available Follow-Me allows a caller to quickly locate an
EIC user, or to optionally leave a voicemail message. Personal rules also give EIC
users several other options when sending and forwarding voicemail messages.

Fax
The Vonexus EIC system makes receiving and sending
faxes as easy as opening an e-mail message. Because Vonexus EIC’s Interaction Mail component
includes the Interaction Fax desktop fax server—and acts as a complete fax
on-demand system—incoming fax messages appear as an e-mail attachment in an
EIC user’s inbox. Vonexus EIC users also get a single Direct Inbound Dialing (DID) number
that serves as both their telephone and fax number, whether an individual user or
workgroup member.

Options for fax messaging
Faxing efficiency. To streamline the faxing process, Vonexus EIC sends and stores fax image files as .tif-compatible files or as .i3f-compatible (Vonexus proprietary) files, with T.38 providing the faxing protocol. Interaction Fax additionally uses the same TCP/IP connection as Vonexus EIC’s Interaction Client desktop interface for submitting faxes, enabling it to work through a firewall configured to allow Interaction Client traffic. Overall within the Vonexus EIC system, universal line ports serve as fax trunks as well as those for IP PBX, ACD, voicemail, etc.
Message notification
Vonexus EIC affords users several different ways to be notified when receiving a new voicemail
or fax message:
A Vonexus EIC user can also schedule the notification, whether during a specific timeframe or to always issue a notification whenever a message comes in.
Interaction Mobile Office
For the speech-enabled retrieval of messages, Vonexus EIC users can take advantage of Interaction
Mobile Office and simple speech commands to access, listen to, save and even forward
voicemail as well as e-mail and fax messages. Interaction Mobile Office also broadens
Vonexus EIC’s messaging capability with a speech-enabled telephony user interface (TUI)
and “hands-free” mobility features that include:
