Vonexus EIC Architecture

Multi-site Configurations and Switchover

For the multi-site virtual office, distributed organizations can easily link Vonexus Enterprise Interaction Center (Vonexus EIC) Servers over a TCP/ IP-based local- or wide-area network for enterprise-wide IP PBX voice capability and information sharing. Also while a dedicated Vonexus EIC Server provides the local communications system at each location, multi-site organizations can centrally maintain the Vonexus EIC system at a single designated location, such as headquarters.

Architecture

Vonexus EIC’s multi-site business capabilities

Company-wide directory – Enable employees at one location to access phone numbers and user information for co-workers in other offices.

Universal user extensions – Configure a single organizational dial plan and make it transparent to all Vonexus EIC users. For example, setting up a 4-digit dial plan lets users make long distance calls to any other Vonexus EIC user worldwide simply by dialing that user’s extension.

Employee mobility – Vonexus EIC users can work from any distributed office and maintain seamless access to the Vonexus EIC system using an in-office PC, workstation, or any laptop via hot-desking. Users can still be reached at their designated extension regardless of area code, since the Vonexus EIC system intelligently routes calls (and Web chats) wherever a user is working.

Presence management/ real-time status – Vonexus EIC’s Client Services component keeps track of any logged-in user’s real-time status — Available, In a Meeting, At Lunch, On a Conference Call, etc. The Client Services component also detects when EIC users are on the phone, and automatically shares multiple instances of the Vonexus EIC system at distributed locations.

Remote Interaction Client® capability
As a cooperative communications system in distributed environments, Vonexus EIC supports call routing and real-time presence management functions at various office sites while allowing users to leverage their “home” extension. For the same reason, EIC users can work from home, a hotel room, a customer location and other remote sites, and can retain normal Vonexus EIC system capabilities via a standard Internet-corporate server connection to a run EIC’s Interaction Client desktop user interface and softphone.

Just like working in the office, the Interaction Client lets a user make outbound calls, identify incoming callers, record calls, create conference calls, and check the status of colleagues for continuous collaboration.

Multi-site IP telephony applications and SIP
Vonexus EIC presents limitless possibilities for multi-site configurations using IP telephony and the open Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) communications standard for IP-supported networks. Because traditional circuit-based PBX phone systems require physical wiring between the switch, trunk lines and stations, most multi-site configurations are engineered based on fixed call routing rules. With IP telephony, however, lines and — more importantly, stations — can be placed logically in the network wherever they make the most sense.

These benefits apply to various IP telephony configurations, including those that provide a SIP-based IP telephony architecture. Multi-site configurations using local SIP gateways and distributed proxy servers can effectively distribute communications from a single server, including a Vonexus EIC Server, to multiple locations.

Remote administration via Interaction Administrator®
Vonexus EIC system administrators can centrally manage other Vonexus EIC Servers in a remote situation using EIC’s inherent Interaction Administrator application, which allows them to configure phone lines, add new users, change extensions, define security, set up interaction queues, and perform other common maintenance tasks such as moves, adds and changes.

The only connectivity required is a TCP/IP connection to the server to be administered. Using Interaction Administrator, supervisors can manage any number of servers over the Internet or an internal TCP/IP-based network.
